2) Film noir research

Research film noir - focusing on the genre’s distinctive lighting style. Make notes on the genre and particularly the use of lighting - bullet points are fine.  Film noir includes cynical heroes, twisting plots and a massive use of flashbacks. Film noir is french for the term "dark film" which was coined in 1946. Film noir mostly uses low-key lighting to create a odd and eerie atmosphere for the viewer.

3) Film noir YouTube clip analysis

Finally, find a YouTube clip that fits the film noir genre and embed it under your research (the clip can be classic noir from the 1950s or something more recent - neo-noir). How does the clip's lighting fit the film noir genre?

The clip was filmed in black and white so the lighting suits its type of genre. The shadow of the man attacking the woman was purposely used to portray a sense of discomfort on the viewer. This is also an example of lowkey lighting. However, high key was lighting was also used in the scene where they were talking to each other to make the scene look more realistic with less shadows.
