https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5nEU6mNJwE At the beginning, fast paced cuts and movement creates a sense of thrill and excitement among the viewer. The cuts between the fight and the crowd signify that there is a lot on the line for the fight and the main character (Kevin James) needs to win the all costs. The fight sequences are mostly shot by free hand camerawork to convey the chaotic nature of the fight and it emphasises the adrenaline rush both brawlers have in the current moment. There are several match cuts which helps showcase the rivalry between them. Towards the ending of the fight, the scenes were put in slow motion which comes in clear contrast from the beginning of the scene. This is done to increase tension heavily and make the outcome of the fight unclear. Slow motion was used when the main character is stuck in a choke hold to give the audience a sense of dismay and trepidation and slow motion was also used when the main character was on the verge of winning which may

Film & TV Language: Cinematography feedback and learner response

  1) Type up your feedback/comments from your teacher. As far as I can tell, this is not original filming that you have done – based on the images, time of year, river drone shot and depth of field I can only assume this is not original material. For this project, the whole point was for you to film the shots so you could learn about cinematography. Although the shots are labelled, the labelling is not particularly accurate. The ‘slow forward pan’ is not a pan (left-right) but looks more like a drone, crane or helicopter shot (another reason why I assume this is video from the internet). The final mid-shot is not a mid-shot as there is no subject in the shot. It therefore becomes a wide shot or establishing shot. The medium shot/tracking shot from the car could indeed be described as a tracking shot but it certainly isn’t a medium shot. Ultimately, this is a lesson in organisation and effort.
