Film & TV Language: Cinematography feedback and learner response
1) Type up your feedback/comments from your teacher.
- As far as I can tell, this is not original filming that you have
done – based on the images, time of year, river drone shot and depth of
field I can only assume this is not original material. For this project,
the whole point was for you to film the shots so you could learn about
cinematography.
- Although the shots are labelled, the labelling is not particularly
accurate. The ‘slow forward pan’ is not a pan (left-right) but looks more
like a drone, crane or helicopter shot (another reason why I assume this
is video from the internet). The final mid-shot is not a mid-shot as there
is no subject in the shot. It therefore becomes a wide shot or
establishing shot. The medium shot/tracking shot from the car could indeed
be described as a tracking shot but it certainly isn’t a medium shot.
- Ultimately, this is a lesson in organisation and effort. You need
to get organised, go out and film these projects and take care to meet
every aspect of the brief. This one has fallen short but your Editing video
is a chance to show what you can do.

3) Now reflect on your work and write your own summary of the comments and feedback you have received. Write three WWWs and three EBIs.

WWW- Edited with titles, music and quality.
EBI- not all footage is mine, labelling not all accurate and I need to correct labels.
4) Learner response: think about what you learned about cinematography making the video and also watching others. What will you do differently when you start the coursework in the summer? What tips or tricks have you learned from others that you can use next time? Are there any specific aspects of camerawork that you need to revise or practice?
I learned about many different shots that I will use in the upcoming summer coursework. I learnt to adapt different shots into a storyline.
